the headaches

This little one is suffering. She has been plagued with really bad headaches for a while that make her nauseaus. She loses her appetite and becomes sluggish and tired. I was hoping that she was just dehydrated or overworked but they keep coming so we're going to have to take the next step and get her to a doctor.

I understand her pain, though. I've been plagued with optical auras that lead to severe headaches for years now. I'm really hoping this isn't the case with Mia but only time and a proper diagnosis will tell, I guess. It's very disheartening to feel helpless when your child is in pain. I'm hoping we can get this resolved quickly. It just makes me so sad. :(

dietary habits

I haven't been feeling my best lately so I decided to eat healthier and try and get to feeling better. Well, my kids must have been paying attention while we were in Target because I picked up a NutriBullet and was reading the box and lo and behold...under the Christmas tree was this little beauty.

It really was the best Christmas present ever. Well, aside from the new watch that Colin got me. ;)

So, my morning routine has changed slightly. I try to have a fruit and veggie-packed smoothie each morning plus one in the afternoon. I have to admit I've been feeling a lot better. The smoothies fill me up and give me a lot of energy. It's much needed since I now design at home and work outside of the house part-time. Trying to stay on top of everything while adjusting to our new life in the States along with renovating our "new to us" old house...well, let's just say it's a little overwhelming at times and I really need to be at my best physically.

I'm hoping that I continue to feel better. I think I may have had one too many servings of mac and cheese over the holidays. ;)

the new infatuation

Lara's, that is.

She's waaaay into The Hunger Games. I can't blame her. I devoured the books when I first heard of them. Lara's headed to a sleepover this weekend with a new friend and the mom mentioned to me that the girlies might want to watch the movie and I didn't want Lara to be behind the curve. Since I'd already read them, I'd deemed them appropriate for her age.

She has just finished reading Huckleberry Finn and our copy of Aesop's Fables. As long as she keeps up with the classics like we've asked her to, then I don't mind her dabbling in a little of the lighter stuff. It's a good mix and she is really loving this series.

We've been busy, busy painting our house over the last week. I can't wait til it's all done. Right now I'm typing on my kitchen table and my office has been displaced to the living room. It's not pretty.

I'm kinda picky about my cameras and photos. Maybe picky's not the right word. Moody. That's a better word. Depending on what mood I'm in, I choose a different camera. I have my old European iPhone (that I could never unlock once we returned to the States), my Android and an actual point and shoot. They all take different photos. (I took this one with my iPad, though.)

I don't think there's really any rhyme or reason...I think I just like to have options. And, boy, do I have them. ;)

I carry all 3 with me wherever I go. I figure it can't hurt right? Let's just hope I never lose my bag.

Maybe I should throw a tiny journal in there, too...
