Found this on Stacy Julian's blog via Amy Krouse-Rosenthal's blog...
List 22 things you have learned as a mother. Stacy, of course, put her own twist on it...write the list without reading one that's already been written.
So, I actually haven't read Stacy's yet. I came straight over to the blog to write my list. And then I'm going back to look at hers (and Amy's). K...here we go!
*******************************************
22 things my daughters have taught me
1:
There is never enough flavored chapstick to go around.
2:
Princesses wear Star Wars t-shirts.
3:
Boys are icky. Period.
4:
Sleepovers rock.
5:
Goofy dancing is the best pick-me-up.
6:
Made up words are better than the real ones. ex? Pinkly Doing Doing
7:
Yelling will get you nowhere.
8:
Those first drawings your kids make will push you to tears. Mostly because you're laughing so hard.
Need an example?
This is a portrait of me. No, your eyes are not tricking you. That is my 3rd leg.
9:
Daddy's portrait doesn't have a 3rd leg. :)
10:
Singing in the car is the best.
11:
Your pointer finger fits perfectly into your nostril.
12:
The expensive shoes wear out just as fast as the cheap ones.
13:
Scrapbooking is the best hobby ever.
14:
2 year olds love Sharpies.
15:
Your friends will not like Sharpie on their couch.
16:
You will find yourself talking about puke and poop OUT LOUD in public where you have no business talking about suck ick. Like in the line at Cinnabon.
17:
Always keep carpet cleaner, paper towels, baby wipes, change of clothes (for everyone), bandages, crayons, coloring books, neck pillows, bottled water, trash bags, snacks, and a cell phone in your car.
18:
Sarcasm is like a foreign language to them.
19:
Blowing bubbles never gets old.
20:
They love sushi.
21:
I can't wait to be a grandma. I mean, I can wait another 12-15 years or so. But really, I can't wait.
22:
If your 2 year old dials random numbers on the phone sometimes someone on the other end will pick up and it will cost you $68.26.

So, what's on your list? :)

So happy to be well again. It seems our lives have been on hold since last Wednesday when Norah first started feeling crummy. So happy to have that all behind us.
I've been busy, behind the scene, working to revamp the Songbird Avenue blog. I've got lots of fun posts in store for everyone over there. I'm hoping to get to a point where I have a post a day. Now if only I could give my own blog that same attention, right? :)
I did get a chance to scrap (and design).
I've been having fun with it. Designing had lost a lot of it's appeal to me for a few months. With moving to a new country and trying to get everyone settled it's no wonder designing got put on the back burner. But, I'm feeling the energy bubbling up to the top and the ideas are whirling around in the old noggin again. So excited about that. I've been sketching and creating patterns and finding inspiration in everything I see.
Where will all this lead, though? That's a little bag of beans I can't spill yet. Soon, though. ;)
In the meantime, the Doots and I are cranking up ABBA and shaking our tushies!

Well, my weekend didn't really go as planned. ALL THREE of my girls were sick.
And when I say sick, I mean eeewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww SICK.
It was pretty scary there for a while. Friday was the worst. Friday had me scrubbing the carpet of the van a million times. Friday was not fun.
Today, however, they are all over (HALLELUJAH!) and are off at their respective little schools and I am playing a frantic game of catchup. :)
I'll have something much more worthwhile to post later, but as for right now...I'm just happy to report that no one is hurling on me or my floors. :)
Later, gators!

I was supposed to have a doctor's appointment today along with a mini morning off for myself but Norah came down with a tummy bug yesterday and hasn't been able to keep anything down since. So, instead I had some of the yummy banana bread I made yesterday for breakfast today. I tried out a new recipe and I have to say I was impressed. There's not a lot of sugar so the natural sweetness of the banana gets to take center stage. You can find the recipe HERE. Did you know there's a banana bread site? Neither did I until yesterday. I'm a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to banana bread so I tend to not add anything unnecessary. My mom used to make it for us all the time and I remember getting sooo excited every single time. However, when she made banana pudding I wanted to cry. Go figure. :)
But while I spent my morning a yummy breakfast we found out that Norah still cannot keep down water or dry toast. So she is spending her morning like this. She is so miserable right now. I'm taking lots of breaks to snuggle with her and check on her. I think I'm going to move her to the chair in my office so I can keep a closer eye on her, though.
So, we'll be nursing the icky sickies while I finishing washing the other couch slipcover, the first victim of Norah's tummy bug.
I hope everyone is having a tummy bug-free day.
And I hope Norah perks up a bit enough later to go outside. I've told her that when she feels better we can go outside and see the new pink blossoms on the tree in our backyard. She's looking forward to it, too, as she said she wants to send some blossoms to my parents so they feel better, too.
Love this girl.

Well, I've been back a week now and I'm still playing catch up. I can't stand that feeling, but as soon as I'm away from the computer it's very hard for me to get back into the groove of things. I always wonder why that is. Maybe I just don't want that vacation feeling to end. :)
I had such a good time with my family, though. After I get over my initial apprehension about meeting new people I always have a blast. I got to meet my new sister-in-law who is an absolute doll. She makes me laugh and she and my brother are so in love. I am so happy for them. I got to see my parents, too, but we were all so busy that we didn't really get a chance to really be with each other. I did get to hug on them though, and that's all I needed.
I wish I had photos but I completely forgot to bring a camera with me. I know!! What kind of scrapbooker am I!??! So, I'm waiting for my brother to send me some of the wedding photos. :)
I'm also working on some stuff to sell. I've been invited to sell at a completely amazing store that I adore and is owned by one of my scrap idols. So excited. Can't wait to spill the beans on that one. :)
So, right now, I have my head ducked down trying to get as much work done and product designed as possible. Til next time, I leave you with this.

The photo doesn't really do it justice. It's a little more green in real life. It's also more deep and rich. Our living room is finally painted, though. And even if it doesn't photograph well, I'm happy with it. I really love the color. It sets off everything so beautifully.
We need to put up something over the couch still.
We're slowly going through our prints, paintings and photographs trying to decide what will hang where. We're having everything professionally framed so it's taking a bit of time (any money) so I'm being patient.
So happy to have some color on the walls. Makes me happy.
I'll be home tomorrow and will get to report on my brother's wedding. :)

We've had this dining room set for years. I got it for an absolute steal because the antique shop owner was eager to sell it without having to actually clean or prep it. I'm not scared of elbow grease, so I happily walked away with all of this for a mere $600. Score!
We've been wanting to refinish it for years, though. I loved the color when we first got it, but now it's a bit on the minty side for our taste. What I really want to do is repaint it in a soft, pale grey. I've been reading up on refinishing and it seems that we don't really even need to strip it since we're repainting it. We will just need to scrub it spotless and then re-glue it all back together. We will need to get a professional to do all the re-gluing, though. I want to make sure it's done right.
For the time being, though, this is how we'll leave it.
I also found the perfect fabric to reupholster the seats in but I don't have enough. So sad.
I've searched in vain for it. If only there was a way to search fabric...or a forum where you could post questions and magical, fabric-seeking people would search for you. sigh...
:)

I'm heading out to Wyoming today. My little brother is getting married. Man, that is a really freaky thought. I'm sure everyone goes through this with younger siblings when they get hitched.
I just remember him as a scrawny little thing. He was so shy and quiet and I used to chase down kids who picked on him. Never mind that I was a good 8-9 years older than those kids. hee hee. Those times still make me giggle.
It's just crazy to think of that little kid growing up and becoming the man he is today.
So, I'm flying out there to spend 3.5 days with him, my parents and my brother's in-laws. I always get so nervous meeting new people. So, I have to admit I'm a bit on the edge of my proverbial seat right now. It will be so nice, though, to meet the girl he's fallen in love with.
I'll be back on the 9th. Ciao, all. :)
