a new watch

I've been wanting a new watch for a few months now. The one I have is about 4 years old and, let's face it, it's seen better days. I'm very hard on watches and they wear out quite quickly. My current watch has a dodgy battery anyway that's had to be replaced 3 times already. So annoying.
So, while at the mall one day, we popped into a jewelry store to see what they had. My eyes settled on 2 really pretty watches. I tried on the slim bangle-like one first. It was pretty, but once I tried on the second one, the pretty little slim won lost, fair and square.

This watch is so expensive it's not even funny. Actually, my husband would find it very funny...

Oh, a girl can dream right? :)

Since I loved them so much, I decided to create a mini kit and template for everyone to use just in case you wanted to use the colors from the inspiration as well. days like today

I love days like today. I have disconnected from the internet (accept for this brief fling with blogging). I've put out the new bird bath, topped up the water in our sadly trickling fountain, spent the morning chatting with my lovely friend Tracy and (because I did 5 hours of ironing yesterday) I am relaxing. The girls have a friend over and I'm chilling with a cheesy Scottish Highlander romance novel. (Hey, it's my summer break, too!)

Tonight we're having some fish and veggies for dinner (super easy, all-in-one pan type deal) and then I have a date with Colin to watch Order of the Phoenix. We haven't seen it yet and we need to brush up before we go see the new one.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day! I'll leave you with some really cool, (and Heaven only knows how expensive) retro inspired kitchen appliances.

I saw this jewelry company recently on design-milk.com and was instantly fascinated. I love a good mix of modern+vintage. Or in this case: lovely+lovelier.
Wouldn't this necklace be a dream to wear with a pale cream dress with a deep neckline? sigh....

I just can't get over how completely original and gorgeous it is. Oh, where's a fairy godmother when you need one?!?

dream vacation

Haven't you ever wanted to visit someplace so bad you could taste it? Can you picture yourself there, amidst the locals, savoring every moment that comes your way? I absolutely love dreaming about new places to go. A couple of months ago I was lucky enough to get to visit Santorini, my favorite of the Greek isles. Although it was a short trip, I had such a wonderful time and am aching to go back.

I was inspired so much by the experience that I created a fun little kit for everyone! The lava of the volcano, the blue of the Aegean sea and the grey color of the black sand beaches are enough to make anyone fall in love with this beautiful island.
