However, there is one word you will not find in the dictionary. That word is "snart".
A few days ago, I posted my most embarrassing story on Heather Bailey's blog. For her birthday, she was having a bit of a contest for the most embarrassing story and the winner was to receive a delicious little sampling of her fabric. Well, you know I love to laugh at myself but what is less known is that I actually love to share my most embarrassing moment. I think it is hilarious and it always makes people laugh. :) When my best friend, Erica, and I talk about high school, we come to tears when we talk about this particular moment...oh and there are more...many more. :0) So, I posted my story and Miss Bailey just announced the winner...and it was ME. It was ME!!!! I am on cloud nine! I was totally floored! And just in case you have never heard it, here ya go:
"in high school, i had a bit of the gassies in algebra class. it was an extreme situation and then, all of a sudden, i had to sneeze. when the sneezed escaped from my face, the treacherous gassies also made a quick (and quite loud!) exit. i was mortified!
not only did my classmates get an earful, but apparently so did some wayward hall wanderers. one happened to be my crush. i didn't know this until after class, while at my locker, the crush (whose locker was next to mine swoon!) said "hey, did you hear that fart in mrs. b's class? man, it was so loud i heard it out here in the hall."
me: "um....nooo... ????????????"
inside my head: "EEEEEEEEEEK!!!!!!!!!!!"
so, not only did my classmates start using the clever word "snart" quite frequently, they also engaged in lovely imitation "snarts" for my benefit, lest i forget.
let's fast forward a few weeks, shall we?
after the frenzy had died down, one day i opened our school's newspaper and as i was reading through it, i came across a "most embarrassing moment" section. well, can you guess which story was the most sought after? mine, of course! complete with my name!
i could never look my crush in the face again and the elusive snart followed me for the next 2 years."
K, so that is my story. Normally, this is told in intimate settings among small groups after a few cocktails, but let's face it...it's just a story that needs to be shouted from the rooftops. And I think I still have a copy of the newspaper that my story was published in. Sigh...nostalgia is a two way street....it brings back fun times and memories...but sometimes you just want to crawl under the covers when you think about some of the horrible stuff that happened to you!
On another note, Kirsty asked about my 15 bean soup and some other recipes. Dude, it is so easy! I just buy a bag of mixed beans and soak them overnight (at least 12 hours) and then I cook them in water on medium (starting around noon). After about 3 hours, I add chopped potatoes, carrots, onions, crushed tomatoes and vegetable broth. Then I cook for another hour and a half to two hours. SO EASY. And if you can always add sausage or whatever else you want to..I just don't. :)
And for the hummus, all I do is take a can of hummus, 3-4 cloves of garlic (pressed or extremely finely chopped) and 3-4 sun dried tomatoes (finely chopped). Mix well and refrigerate. SO EASY.
The best part about last night's dinner is the pita chips, though. They are divine. My friend, Jenny, made them for us a while back and I have been addicted to them ever since! So for one can of hummus, I make about 10 pitas worth of chips. I take 2 tablespoons of olive oil and add garlic salt, onion salt, & Italian seasoning to taste. I mix it up (it's a bit thick...like runny mud LOL) and I brush it on both sides of the pitas. I stack the pitas and cut through them with a bread knife. I cut them into eighths...just like you would a pizza. Then I line them up in rows on a foil-covered baking sheet and bake them at 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 c) for about 10 minutes. I take them out, flip them over and bake them for another 10-15 minutes. They keep very well for a few days in an airtight container, too. So we get to snack on them for about 3 days. The hummus is seriously addicting...don't say I didn't warn you! :0)
On that note, I need to get going...I have some more secret pages to scrap! :0) So I'll leave you with my new favorite photo of the Noodle. Bandanna and ladybug tat. So freakin cute.

OH!!! I keep forgetting!! Kirsty, Laura, and Jaime, please email me!! I have Shabby Princess GC's sitting in my inbox ready to send to you! :)
