Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, and Happy Hannukah!! We've had a wonderful week! Santa was so good to the girls and we have been having tons of family fun!
On Saturday, we had a relaxing time and then started cooking in the afternoon to get ready to go to Laura's for Christmas Eve dinner. Her parents were there as well as our friends Jenny and Jesse and their beautiful little baby. The food was incredible! The ham was the best I have ever had and everything was just yummy! We exchanged gifts and Laura TOTALLY spoiled me! The girls also got lots of goodies, too. We really had a wonderful time and ate WAY too much! :) We stayed til about 9 and then headed home to get ready for Santa.
We came home and laid out some cookies and milk for Santa and then got ready for bed. We had to wait til 11 for Mia to finally fall asleep! What a spaz! So after she finally went down, we brought the new dollhouse up from the cellar and stuffed their stockings. These girls are spoiled rotten!! There were presents everywhere!
On Christmas morning, we got the girls up, brushed their teeth, and took them into the living room to see if Santa ate his snack. Mia was very concerned because she wanted to know if the reindeer had some cookies, too. I told her that Santa shared and that seemed to cheer her up. "Santa" left some crumbs on the plate as evidence and Lara was upset because he didn't eat them all. Go figure!
So, as we go to check out the cookie plate, we have to walk past the tree...totally oblivious. They didn't even see anything. We had to remind them that there were gifts from Santa and then they finally raced over to the tree screaming about their new dollhouse. They actually just stood there and told us that Santa brought gifts and then they pointed to them repeatedly. It took a lot of coaxing to actually get them to open them!
So, we started at 8:30 and by 12:30 Colin and I had just finished unwrapping all the toys and throwing everything away. Man!! Talk about being tired! I was literally falling asleep on my self, but I couldn't take a nap since the girls were so loud! There was literally no calming them down.
So, I started our little mini Christmas dinner (baked chicken stuffed with apples and plums, mac & cheese, green beans, home fries, and fresh baked bread). It wasn't a feast, but everything was really yummy and I wanted to keep it simple so I could relax and focus on spending time with the family.
And we got to talk to everybody on the phone. It was a bit bittersweet because we want so much to spend the holidays with all our relatives. But, it's so good just to hear the voices of loved ones.
We finally dragged our tired selves to bed late last night and woke up and had another lazy day today. Everything is closed today in Germany, so there was really nothing to do. We made our gingerbread house and we're going to bake cookies later. YUM!
So, that's our little Christmas update, I hope you all had a wonderful time! Now we have to call Colin's sister and wish her Happy Hannukah!
I'll have pics soon! Have to get them developed! :)
